FAQs

Who is eligible to participate?

MMSI is open to undergraduate students from any accredited college or university. Teams must consist of 3–4 students, but beyond that, there are no restrictions -- students from any major, year, or school are welcome to apply.

How can I be considered for the competition?

To be considered, each team must submit the complete team application that includes:

  • One resume per team member

  • Team information

  • A short answer response

  • A one-page solution (one-pager)

MMSI is seeking high-achieving students, and all applications will be reviewed by McKinsey Business Analysts and members of the conference board based on this criteria.

What is the structure of the competition?
  • Round One (Oct 17): Closed-door case pitches to McKinsey Associates and faculty judges

  • Round Two (Oct 19): Finalist teams pitch to a panel of McKinsey Partners in front of all conference attendees

  • Awards: Monetary prize and an exclusive McKinsey networking opportunity for finalists

Is there a fee to compete?

No. Aside for the conference ticket, there is no additional cost to participate in the competition. If selected, the conference fee is waived as well.

If my team isn’t selected, can I still attend the conference ?

Absolutely! Non-competing students are welcome to attend the full MMSI Conference, including workshops, panels, and networking events. A general admission ticket will be required in that case.
